Commissioner Randy Hayman, Philadelphia Water Department to Keynote at the Grey to Green Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities North America (GRHC) is thrilled to announce that Commissioner Randy Hayman of the Philadelphia Water Department will deliver the keynote address at the Grand Rapids Grey to Green Conference on August 10. The event is hosted by GRHC and will take place on August 9-10, 2023, with tours on the 9th and expert presentations on the 10th.   Early bird registration for the event ends on August 1st, so participants are encouraged to register promptly. As the driving force behind implementing the comprehensive 25 year green stormwater infrastructure plan Green City, Clean Waters  for the City of Philadelphia, Randy Hayman's expertise is invaluable. The multi-billion dollar initiative aims to establish 10,000 acres of green infrastructure throughout the city, promoting the capture, infiltration, and evaporation of stormwater, while also generating much needed employment throughout the city.

The Grand Rapids Grey to Green Conference will delve into the latest innovations in green infrastructure, with a special emphasis on building sustainable and resilient communities. This event offers unparalleled opportunities to network with designers and other industry experts, policymakers, researchers, building owners and other community leaders. The main event features expert speakers and a mini-trade show with local and regional suppliers on August 10.

August 9th, there is a rare opportunity to attend a green roof tour and reception at the John Ball Zoo on August 9, hosted by Allmon Forester, the Director of Facilities, Planning & Sustainability at the John Ball Zoo. Attendees will have the chance to explore the impressive green roof and stormwater management initiatives of the Zoo, and network with other professionals and Grand Rapids Mayor Bliss, at the reception in the Bissell Tree House. 

Also on August 9th, there will be an informative tour of the Live Roof/Live Wall nursery operations available to attendees in the morning. 

On August 10, at the Grand Valley State University, there will be expert speakers covering a wide range of topics, including integrated design practices, green infrastructure initiatives in public transportation, green roof benefits, new and emerging policy developments, and new project funding opportunities. The event will provide attendees with up to 7 CEUs from AIA and ASLA members, and for Green Roof Professionals (GRPs).
